School Governors

Each individual governor is a member of a governing committee, which is established in law as a corporate body. Individual governors may not act independently of the rest of the governing committee; decisions are the joint responsibility of the governing committee. They are very proud to be part of Warrington Primary Academy Trust WPAT Trust and work with the Trust to imporve the ooutcomes of all children. The role of the governing committee is a strategic one, its key functions are to:

  • set the aims and objectives for the school
  • set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
  • set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
  • monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
  • be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend).

Governors at Bruche meet to discuss all issues, there are no discrete committees. Governors meet twice a term as a full governing body to discuss standards and resources.

Minutes from Bruche Local Governing Committee meetings are available upon request through the school office.

If you are interested in becoming a school governor please contact the school office who will be able to give you more information. Governors

Mr Matt Jones
Co-opted Governor - Chair

Mr Matt Jones

Hi! My name is Matt and I am the Chair of Governors at Bruche. I became a governor six years ago because I am passionate about education and want to use my skills to ‘give something back’ to the next generations. While at university, I ran a student-led charity and was involved in many community outreach projects – I love the ‘buzz’ of helping others! My time as a governor at the school has been both challenging and rewarding, and I really look forward to ensuring our pupils get the best education possible. If you have any questions about the work of our governing body or simply want to talk, please feel free to get in touch at bruche.chair@wpat.warrington.sch.uk.

Mr Michael Ruck
Co-opted Governor

Mr Michael Ruck

Hi, my name is Michael Ruck and I’m a co-opted governor at Bruche. I’m a local business entrepreneur who has created and ran several businesses in the last 20 years, during that time I’ve built up considerable knowledge in various areas and I'm hoping these skills will add value to the existing team at Bruche. I learned many things during the covid pandemic, one of the most important being how key parents are in the education of their children and how vital it is that education is well managed, structured and delivered as part of a coherent team effort driven and guided by teachers and reinforced at home. This realisation led me to want to become a governor, to help Bruche create a vision which it can work towards, to support all the staff at Bruche and ensure parents are engaged and supported so that every child has access to the same exciting opportunities, supported in school and at home to help unlock every child’s potential.

Mr Siva Poopalan

Hi! I'm Siva, a co-opted governor for WPAT. This is my first governor position and I'm looking forward to lend my past and current work experience to the betterment of academic governance of schools. I originate from tropical South East Asia though have resided and worked in diverse global locations. My career started as a electrical engineer and evolved to IT over a span of 25 years. I'm very passionate about life-long learning and cultivating a growth mindset. Currently, I'm a member of the Senior Management Team in DfE's Apprenticeship Service and head up the architecture and cyber security portfolios. Thus, I hope to share my humble experience and skills as a school governor.

Mrs Krystina Stanway
Co-opted Governor

Mrs Krystina Stanway

I’m Krystina and I am new to being a governor this year. I am a Speech and Language Therapist working in the NHS and independently as the director of a therapy company. I have 2 wonderful children who inspire me everyday and I want to use some of the energy and enthusiasm they give me to give back to another school. I am a strategic thinker and good at solving problems, which I hope will come in useful during my time as a governor. I am looking forward to meeting the children, staff and parents at the school and learning more about how I can support.
