Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Year 2 Class Teacher: Miss Kerrigan

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Bennett and Mrs Dennis

This year, Year 2 consists of 31 gorgeous children who will be taught by Miss Kerrigan, Mrs Bennett and Mrs Dennis.  We hope you have all had a lovely summer and are ready and eager to be in Year 2!!

Readers: Please ensure you read frequently with your child, reading and discussing the text at least four times a week. Reading books will be changed as and when the children have read at home.  There will be certificates and prizes given out to all children who read four to five times per week. We aim to hear your child read twice a week in school, once independently and once during a group read.

Book bags: Space in the cloakroom is very limited so we store book bags in the classroom. It would be helpful if the children could use the school book bags and not large rucksacks or bags.

Pupil Planners: Please ensure that you make a note in your child’s planner to show that you have read with your child. There are a number of information and permission pages within the planner. Please ensure that you read through all pages within the first week of school.

P.E. Kit - NAMED PLEASE! P.E. Kits should be brought into school at the start of each half term. These will be sent home at the end of each half term for a wash. Indoor PE Kit - Plain white T-shirt, plain blue shorts and black pumps. Outdoor PE Kit, as above but also plain dark black or blue tracksuit bottoms and trainers. P.E will be on a Friday morning.

Homework will be handed out on a Friday and should be returned to school on a Wednesday. There will be one piece of Maths and one piece of English work to complete and spellings to learn. We will have a weekly spelling test every Friday. I wonder who will get ten out of ten!

We are looking forward to a very successful year. My door is always open if you have any concerns or simply just want to have a chat with me. Please do not hesitate to pop in after school at 3:20, ring the office to set up a meeting with me or write in your child’s diary.
