School Governors
Each individual governor is a member of a governing board, which is established in law as a corporate body. Individual governors may not act independently of the rest of the governing board; decisions are the joint responsibility of the governing board. The role of the governing board is a strategic one, its key functions are to:
- set the aims and objectives for the school
- set the policies for achieving those aims and objectives
- set the targets for achieving those aims and objectives
- monitor and evaluate the progress the school is making towards achievement of its aims and objectives
- be a source of challenge and support to the headteacher (a critical friend).

Mr Matt Jones
Co-opted governor - Chair
bruche.chair@wpat.warrington.sch.ukHi! My name is Matt and I am the Chair of Governors at Bruche. I became a governor six years ago because I am passionate about education and want to use my skills to ‘give something back’ to the next generations. While at university, I ran a student-led charity and was involved in many community outreach projects – I love the ‘buzz’ of helping others! My time as a governor at the school has been both challenging and rewarding, and I really look forward to ensuring our pupils get the best education possible. If you have any questions about the work of our governing body or simply want to talk, please feel free to get in touch at bruche.chair@wpat.warrington.sch.uk.
