Romeo and Juliet

6th October 2015
Children in years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed a performance of Romeo and Julet staged in school by the Manacto company of actors.  The play, written by William Shakespeare, would actually take about 3 hours to perform; so we watched a shortened version that included the most important themes of the play.  Children in years 5 and 6 are learning about life in Elizabethan England, and studying the text of Romeo and Juliet.  Shakespeare used lots of figurative language and 'middle English' (which can be tricky to understand), but by concentrating really hard, we were able to enjoy the performance.  At the end the children talked to the actors to help them develop their understanding of this wonderful story.
