Outdoor Learning Day!

21st January 2020
On Tuesday 21st January the whole school participated in an outdoor classroom day from Nursery up to Year 6. We were all provided with a tailored workshop including mini beast hunting, shelter and den building, filtering water, kelly kettles, identifying leaves and trees and scavenger hunts! Each class teacher was provided with a range of ideas to complete with their class throughout the day and it was amazing to see every class outdoors all day. Many classes linked their outdoor learning to subjects including; Science, Art, Literacy, Math's and even Phonics! We used our creativity to think about how we could access learning outside and the results were amazing. Some children even created a human body out of natural resources and labelled it correctly. Following on from the day, children from a range of classes expressed interest in participating in outdoor learning more regularly and I hope to work with staff at Petty Pool to make this happen on a regular and permanent basis.
