World Book Day 2018

1st March 2018

We celebrated World Book Day by focusing on poetry with an emphasis on performance poetry. Each class ran a competition where the children had the opportunity to perform a poem of their choice. The children either wrote a poem or used a poem that already existed for their performance.

Each class teacher then decided upon a winner who went through to a place in the final of “Bruche Has Got Poetry Talent,” which was held in the hall in front of the rest of the school.

Each class also ran a general “write a poem” competition and the winners read their poems in assembly and then an overall school winner was decided by our panel of judges, Mrs Humprhies, Mrs Badley and Mrs Simon Blackledge Cowell!

The children also dressed up as their favourite poetry/book characters and there was competition for the best dressed person in each class. Each of those winners were then put forward to be considered to be the overall school winner.

There was also a class swap, where the teachers went to read a book to different class.
